what animals would you suggest for a 29gallon community reef saltwater tank?
yeah i just got a new tank and i am wondering what i could put in. I already have a 75 gallon bloody killer rip you to shreds tank so i want a community tank instead.
Here is a good basic setup that worked for me when began.
Fish:
-1 to 2 Ocellaris or Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris; A. percula)
OR 1 Cherub Angelfish (Centropyge argi)
OR 1 Jawfish (Family Opistognathidae)
OR 1 Yellowtail Blue Damselfish (Chrysiptera parasema)
PLUS
1 Royal Gramma (Gramma loreto)
OR 1 Orchid, Springer’s, or Sankey’s Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani; P. springeri; P. sankeyi)
OR 1 to 2 Golden or Canary Wrasses (Halichoeres chrysus)
Inverts:
-1 to 2 Common Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis)
OR 1 Banded Coral Shrimp (Stenopus hispidus)
OR 3 to 5 Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni)
PLUS
-1 brittle star (Class Ophiuroidea) (NOT GREEN!!!)
-2 small hermit crabs (Section Anomura)
-1 to 5 feather duster worms (Families Serpilidae & Sabellidae)
-3 to 5 star shell snails (Lithopoma [Astraea] spp.)
This is a tried and tested setup, it should work if your water quality, flow, protein skimming, etc. are good. And it gives you a bit of room for something else in the future.
