BMW 85 325e will not start w / new battery and full tank?
The 85 325e BMW has sat in the parking lot for about four months. We try to start and realized the battery had died so we put a fresh new battery in it. Still will not start. We had started and add gas AAA additional tank … will not start. We replaced the fuel line for about five months. This vehicle fuel injected ….. any suggestions? Is running well until the winter storm that passed through a couple of weeks ago. We should go to start it but would be nice later. My husband and I review all the answers are so please keep posting responses. We are selling this car for $ 750 and we do not put too much into it … just want to work. Before the car was completely dead, now we can go everywhere. The engine sounds like it will start, but it does not. Any ideas on how to find out what is the security code?
Buy a little starting fluid (comes in spray cans). Crank the engine while his assistant sprays things in the horn air intake (usually ahead of the basic support). If engine starts but fails to remain in operation, the fuel supply system is not delivering of the fuel. If the engine did not even think about starting, check your inertia switch (all cars built after 1987 and before many have a switch that cuts the fuel and ignition after an impact). If there is no reason to change the inertia that have been shot, check the usual things that go south on cars 20 years old. Check under the lid dist cap contacts dirty, dirty, magnetic or optical sensors, or (God forbid) without bone or closed points, but I'm pretty sure 85 will be electronic ignition. Good luck.
